Package room planning calculator

Size a package room for your property: daily volume, locker doors, square footage and staff time. Every assumption is visible and editable — the math is shown below so you can defend the numbers.

How the math works

  • Daily volume = occupied units × % of units receiving a package per day.
  • Doors needed = peak daily volume × average pickup time (days) × 1.15 buffer. A door is occupied until pickup, so dwell time drives capacity more than volume alone.
  • Footprint ≈ 1.35 ft² of floor area per door (typical column-based locker density) + 40 ft² circulation/oversize area. Verify with your architect and local code.
  • Staff time = average daily volume × your minutes-per-package estimate. Lockers absorb this by letting couriers deposit directly and residents self-collect 24/7.
  • Defaults are planning estimates — every input is editable, and results are only as good as your inputs. External data points are cited inline.

Context worth knowing: apartment and condo residents experience package theft 3.5x more often than single-family residents (Security.org, 2025) — see our package theft statistics research.
