Chapter 12

Item Protection — The $10,000 Coverage

THIS IS NOT INSURANCE. The $10,000 item protection is a contractual benefit and, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, is the SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY available to you for loss or damage to stored items. No insurer-insured relationship is created. No insurance company backs this program. For high-value items, get your own renters or personal property insurance.

Every rental includes $10,000 item protection automatically. No sign-up. No extra charge. Coverage activates the moment you lock the door.

Covered
  • Theft while item is physically locked inside
  • Damage directly from locker hardware failure
  • Loss while in Ready Lockers documented custody
  • Coverage active during overstay period
  • Applies at all locations nationwide
Not covered
  • Cash, currency, gift cards
  • Jewelry & watches over $500 unless declared
  • Passports and legal documents
  • Medications and perishable items
  • Electronics over $1,000 unless declared

Payout Basis — Fair Market Value

Fair market value is what your item is worth TODAY — not what you paid for it, not what it costs new. Ready Lockers determines fair market value using depreciation standards, market comparisons, and documentation you provide.

EXAMPLE: A laptop purchased 3 years ago for $1,200 may be worth $400 today. Maximum payout: $400.

Limitation of Liability — Sole Remedy

Total liability shall not exceed the fair market value of the item or $10,000, whichever is less. Ready Lockers is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I share my locker with someone else?
A: Yes. In the web app go to MY RENTAL and tap SHARE ACCESS. Generate one secondary code. Both codes open the same locker. Revoke at any time. All access is logged.
Q: What if I lose my phone during my rental?
A: Your rental is tied to your account — not your phone. Log in from any device. If you cannot access any device, call 855-500-2226.
Q: What if I forget my code and cannot access the web app?
A: Call 855-500-2226. A real person verifies your identity and retrieves your code immediately. Available 24/7. You are never stranded.
Q: Can I put food or drinks in the locker?
A: Non-perishable sealed food only. Perishable food, open beverages, or anything that could spill, leak, or smell is prohibited and not covered.
Q: What if my item does not fit?
A: Cancel BEFORE you close the door — full refund. Select the next size up. Once the door is closed with your item inside, the rental has started. Never force the door.
Q: Can I extend my rental after it starts?
A: Yes — anytime from anywhere. Open the web app. Tap EXTEND RENTAL. Extension takes effect immediately and your code continues to work.
Q: What if someone tries to break into my locker?
A: Tamper detection fires an instant alert to your phone, the licensee, and Ready Lockers HQ. Locker locks down. Camera footage preserved. Call 855-500-2226 immediately.
Q: Is the $10,000 protection real insurance?
A: No. It is a contractual promise — not an insurance policy. No insurance company backs it. For highly valuable items, get your own renters or personal property insurance.
Q: What if Ready Lockers changes the terms or pricing?
A: For material changes, you get at least 30 days advance written notice. Non-material updates take effect immediately. Your active rental rate is always honored.

Chapter 29

Security, Access, and Liability

Access Code Responsibility

Each locker is secured by a unique, system-generated access code. The Customer is solely responsible for maintaining its confidentiality. Anyone using the correct access code is treated as an authorized user, unless reported within 24 hours of discovery or the unauthorized access was enabled by Ready Lockers system failure or gross negligence.

Surveillance and Access Records

All locations are monitored by 24/7 video surveillance and system access logging. By using the service, you consent to such monitoring and recording. Records are presumed accurate unless proven otherwise by clear and convincing evidence.

Insurance Disclaimer

Ready Lockers operates with appropriate business insurance covering its business operations only. That insurance does not create coverage for customer property stored within lockers. Customers are solely responsible for obtaining any desired insurance coverage for stored items.

Chapter 33

Service Nature, Risk, and Scope

Ready Lockers provides a self-service, automated access system for short-term, temporary use. It is not a warehouse or storage facility and does not offer long-term storage services. Ready Lockers serves as a limited bailee under Washington State law (RCW 63.24).

The five defined bailee duties

  1. Maintaining the physical locker unit in operational condition.
  2. Providing exclusive access via your encrypted access code during the rental period.
  3. Not accessing the locker except as specifically authorized by this Agreement.
  4. Providing the item protection program in Chapter 12.
  5. Following the removal and abandonment protocols.

All other bailee duties under common law or statute — beyond these five — are expressly disclaimed to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Chapter 34

Washington State Legal Compliance

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Nothing here waives any rights that cannot be lawfully waived under applicable Washington State law, including the Washington Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86). Where the laws of your state of residence provide stronger consumer protections, those apply.

Personal papers and personal photographs may never be sold or discarded and must be held for a minimum of six months per RCW 63.24.

Surveillance systems are NOT used for biometric identification of any kind. Surveillance footage and system data are NOT used for commercial resale of personal data. Operated in accordance with the Washington Privacy Act (RCW 19.375) and the Washington My Health MY Data Act.
